Rev. E. Jennings Tyson

Senior Pastor

Rev. E. Jennings Tyson is the son of the late Edward and Nellie Tyson.   He attended the Oklahoma City Public Schools, graduating from The Douglass High School in 1979 and Southwestern Oklahoma State University (SWOSU) Weatherford, Oklahoma in 1986 and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration and a minor in Philosophy.

In 1988, Pastor Tyson founded Mission Gospel Train Ministries, Inc. (MGTM) which continues to air today as Mission Gospel Train (MGT) on radio, News Talk 1290AM, and on television since 1997. Mission Gospel Train currently airs on FOX-25 at 8:30am on Sundays. He also established the Texhoma Mass Choir composed of singers, musicians, songwriters, spiritual dancers and evangelism ministry of Southern Oklahoma and Northern Texas.

In 1992, Rev. Tyson founded New Visions Economic Development Corporation (NVED) with a five-fold focus on the community in the areas of housing, education, employment, healthcare, and social justice. In 2022, NVED launched a grant-funded program – Boyz2Men – to provide mentorship and guidance to young boys ages 7 to 17 years old.

In January 2004, Rev. Tyson became the seventh Pastor of New Hope Baptist Church—One Church in Two Locations…in Oklahoma City and Midwest City, Oklahoma. His spirit-filled energy and vision have created a synergy within New Hope that is regenerating the congregation through sheer human will and Divine Grace.

Pastor Tyson serves as President of the Progressive Oklahoma Baptist State Convention (POBSC) and 2ndVice President of the Baptist Ministers Association.  Pastor Tyson is a member of King David Lodge #50.

Pastor Tyson is the proud father of Rev. Vivian Je’Nell Tyson, a graduate of the University of Oklahoma in Norman, Oklahoma. She now serves as the Events Director for the Concord Church in Dallas, Texas.
